Your daughter and your husband are up late, giggling in her room. There are cat sounds. There are air-blown kisses. It’s past bedtime but you’ve stayed up tonight – to meet new people and share a meal. Some days are meant for stretching past your comfort zone, for breaking your routine.
Earlier today you walked through the wind and rain, just trying to keep moving. The leaves were a tangle, water in your face. Wind blew your coat from your body, made it a billowing cape, a broken sail.
But at night the sunset turned beautiful. You stood at the window with your daughter in your arms just to wonder, just to watch. Sometimes the winds come and shake the world. Sometimes they clear the air, make room for brighter things.
